Next Steps

A Community Liaison Officer (CLO) has been appointed, who will be the point of contact with the local community in relation to the proposed wind farm.

The CLO is calling to each house within a 1.5km radius of the proposed windfarm site providing information, including a summary of the proposed project. This door-to-door visit will be followed up by an information event in the near future in a local community hall/ venue where MKO and AIR personnel will be available to discuss the project with the community, supported up by printed and digital maps/reports, etc to explain the project.

The in-person event will be complemented online with a virtual room containing all the same documentation which will allow members of the community to view the relevant information in their own time.

Upon completion of the EIAR, Seskin Renewable Energy Limited intends to submit a planning application to Laois and Kilkenny County Councils in the coming months. The application will include:

  • Application forms and public notices

  • Planning drawings

  • Environmental Impact Assessment Report

  • Natura Impact Statement

Notification of the intention to lodge these applications will be placed in relevant newspapers. Once submitted, all planning application documents and drawings will be available for viewing in the offices of Laois and Kilkenny County Councils. The information will also be available to view online, it usually takes a few days for the information to be uploaded.

Seskin Renewable Energy Limited will provide updates on the projects progress through the Seskin Renewables Wind Farm website, including the date of lodgement of application.

Following lodgement of the application, members of the community can make submissions to the planning authority during the assigned public consultation period. Seskin Renewable Energy Limited will continue to be available to discuss any individual queries in relation to the application.
